Week 2: Weekend from Hell.
Friday night, I hopped in the car and hot footed it down to Oxford to see a friend for the evening. A few sweeties were passed around the car. Get to Oxford starving to death, can of Carling. Get to Bella Italia, large glass of wine, 1/4 of a sharing platter, a whole red pesto pizza (minus the crust) and half a chocolate brownie pudding. 3 jack daniels and diet coke. Saturday: Skip...

Just took a quick look at google analytics for another blog and noticed I’m actually getting a fair amount of traffic on lardybum still, although my passion for being healthy and losing weight has been on the backburner a bit lately.
Just as a quick update, I’nm doing fine, maintaining my weight, which I can’t reallycomplain about given how much I’ve been eating, taken up...

Running Update
After a couple of really tough runs recently (to the woman in the blue tshirt who bellowed words of encouragement when I was about to give up on Sunday - thank you, I don’t think I would have made it back without you), I had a good run last night with my boyfriend.
It must be really boring for him, a few times I caught him walking for a bit, probably bored after spending far too long...

Anyone have any recommendations?
5kms
On Friday, I ran my first ever 5km in a snail like 39m 33s.
Today, after the biggest all day breakfast known to man or god, I tried again. This time was much harder, my legs felt like lead, and I spent much of the second half debating whether I could avoid throwing up right there on the canal path. I finished in exactly 36 mins, shaving 3m 33s off my previous time.
I’m currently...
The Harcombe Diet
Has anyone tried this? A friend is 3 days in and has lost 3.3lbs already. I’m not a fan of crash diets, and I think healthy eating is the way to go, but the food in the plan looks fairly healthy, and you can have as much as you want to keep you full. I found the plan via Google, thinking of trying it out closer to the holiday, or trying to implement some of the principals into my normal...
February Targets
1. Go running at least once a week, building my distance and speed up slowly
2. Go to the gym at least once a week, and work hard when I’m there!
3. Get to 12st 2 by the end of Feb (would like to be 11st 9lb by my holiday on 22nd April)
4. Do physio exercises at least 3 times a week.
January Short-term Goals - Update
1. Lose my 10% - 11st 12lbs - still working on this one -lost 1lb overall, so 7lbs to go. Weight loss has not been easy this time round.

3. Slim back in to my fave size 12 black jeans - these now fit, and bought another slim fit pair which also fit. Whoop!

The problem with dieting...
…is that real life gets in the way.
If I could go to work, leave work, go to the gym, go home, cook dinner and go to bed, the weight would fall off me, and I would be the leanest, healthiest person out there.
My problem is that real life stuff gets in the way, and I let it take control far, far too much. This weekend has been my birthday (cue dinners, drinks and cake with boyfriend,...

Today, I got out of the 12s and in to the 11s!
This may have more to do with the fact that I haven’t got out of my sickbed for the last two days and less to do with my dieting success, but still! Now I’m here, I’m going to bloody well stay here.
Long overdue update
The last couple of weeks have flown by. After settling in to a nice routine going to yoga and swimming each week, I’m STILL not going to the gym enough. I know I would do much better if I had someone to go with, someone to persuade me to turn up even when I didn’t want to, just to get me through the gym doors. Then again, I’m 23 years old and probably should have grown some self...
Update on the miraculous overnight 4lb gain
…OK, so I didn’t put on 4lbs, but I did put on 0.4lbs. Probably serves me right for having an icecream with Eddie Izzard. I can deal with that.

Lunch: Ham salad with beetroot, 1/2 an egg, 1tbsp coleslaw, tomatoes, pepper, red onion, cucumber and lettuce. Diet Pepsi (2.5)

Snacks: Birthday cake (4.5points for a TEENY slice - gutted). Makers Mark and Diet...
Weigh in #7
Lost 0.5 since last week, but after my ridiculous Bank Holiday gain, this actually equates to a 2lb loss this week.
Still, I have (and fit into) 3 pairs of size 12 trousers and I’m looking and feeling better than ever before. I’ll get there eventually, even if it is half a lb at a time!
Post-Bank Holiday Update
I put on 1.6lbs in Devon according to Tuesday morning’s weigh in taking me from a lovely 12st 6 to a depressing 12st 7.6.
Wednesday morning’s weigh in showed 12st 7 after a light day and a hellish 1.5 hour yoga session, which deserves a post all of it’s own.
This morning’s weigh in came in at a miraculous 12st 4.8 after yesterday’s ultra-healthy day. I don’t...

Update: It wasn't that bad
Last half a pound. Where have my big 7lbs a week losses disappeared to?
Stil, I got my healthy BMI, I got my size 12 clothes, and I’m driving 400 miles down to Devon after work for a weekend of camping next to the beach. Life is good.
I don't even remotely go near my scales for weigh...
Last night’s best laid plans of a soup starter with friends went horribly wrong. There was no soup. Next lightest thing on the menu? BBQ pork wrap with rice. The scales are going to hate me.
The Start of My New Size 12 Wardrobe
Thoroughly fed up with saggy work trousers, I hit the shops this lunch to find something that actually fit. 1 hour later, I’m the proud owner of a high waisted knee length pencil skirt, some well fitting bog standard black trousers and two casual tops, all in size 12, wahey!
Today has been a good day
1) I stood on the scales this morning and found I weighed 12st 4.8lbs. That’s the least I’ve weighed in 8 years.
2) It took me ages to get ready for work this morning, all of a sudden, all the trousers I wear to the office have suddenly become FAR TOO BIG. I popped to the shops after work and tried a few pairs on, and for the first time since I was 12, I actually fitted in to a UK...

Week 4: Day 6 - Weekend Disaster, Mid-week Saint...
After a disasterous 35 point day on Saturday, I’ve been really good with my points (15.5, 18.5 and 18 Sunday - Tuesday) and have exercised every day. I jumped on the scales this morning and haven’t lost anything at all. Hoping for a miracle to happen between now and Friday morning’s weigh in, but if I get a ‘Stayed the Same’ two weeks in a row after being really good,...

Week 4: Day 1 - Weigh in Day 3
I didn’t lose any weight this week, but I didn’t put any on either. I suppose I’m OK with that after my week of being paranoid about putting the whole 9lbs back on!
I didn’t do enough exercise this week. A lot of the time I was too busy, but the rest of the time, I couldn’t be arsed, so that definitely needs to change next week. I did have a night out with my old uni...
Week 3: Day 6 - Weigh-in Day Paranoia Sets In
Ever since last week’s weigh in (with a loss of -7lbs since the week before that), I’ve been truley terrified that I won’t be able to match that with another loss this week. A sneaky midweek jump on the scales has confirmed that, and unless something changes dramatically between now and Friday morning, I’m looking at a 2lb gain.
I know all that stuff about it being a...
Week 3: Day 3
Did good: managed my first hangover without the assistance of the obligatory bacon roll.
Did bad: didn’t manage to avoid yummy pavlova after my Sunday dinner, BUT I did stay within points!
After a relatively small portion of roast chicken and aforementioned pud, I was fit to burst. It’s been just over 2 weeks, but in changing the way I eat, I think I’ve also managed to change...
Week 3: Day 1 - Weigh in day #2
Weigh in day this morning. What clocked up at 13st 2lbs 2 weeks ago now says 12st 7lbs! I’ve lost a whopping 9lbs in 2 weeks, which is also my first half stone AND my 5% of total body weight goal, and I’m chuffed to bits at myself.
I almost made myself late for work by trying on 14 different pairs of jeans, trying to work out whether I looked any thinner. I’ve been in a great...
